History
|
| When we were pregnant with our first child,
I (Karla) was certain that we were having a girl - minus the
results of an ultrasound. Therefore, I and the grandmas bought
tons of baby girl clothes. When our son, Aron, was born in
January 2001, I was thankful that I'd brought a yellow "going
home outfit" to the hospital! (My husband was banned from the
hospital due to an active case of chicken pox, but that's a
whole different story.) |
 |
| In the months after Aron's arrival, I
realized the difficulty that parents of boys encounter when
shopping for clothing since most stores cater to girls.
Thus, the concept of a clothing boutique specializing in boys
was formed. |
| When I resigned from my position with the
Federal Emergency Management Agency in October 2001
(September 11th was a huge priority changer!), several people
warned/teased me about raising a "momma's boy" since I would
be home full time with Aron. As I wrote the business plan in
early 2002, I recalled that warning/teasing and decided to put
the phrase to positive use. Momma's Boy, LLC was formed in
Summer 2002! I launched the internet store in January 2004 and opened the "brick-and-mortar" store in Chantilly, VA in September 2004. |
